Every person on this planet has Gold hidden within. Sometimes it’s hard to find the gold, but it is there. It is hidden within us. The Gold Is Located Within The Things We Do Not Talk About. When we open up and talk about what we really think and feel, yes then, and only then we hit Gold. We will appreciate one another more. We will feel a relief, connected and not alone.

One evening in 2004 I decided to write my own obituary. Yes, I know that it is not so common, but I did it. The cause of it all was that I really wanted to dive deep into myself, and find out what I really wanted with my life. For many it may seem like an egotistical, and perhaps a fatalistic thing to do, but for me it was an absolute necessity. I could of course have continued my life as usual, without diving into the deepest of myself, and many people live their lives without being in contact with the person they really are or want to be, but for me it was not the enough. I wanted more out of life. I wanted to know if I was on the way to realize a dream or if I just was fussing around.

When you write an obituary, you never write about yourself. You write about others. You write about what this person has meant, and how this person was. As you can see, I had to write about me - from another person’s perspective. I promise you, when you do such a thing, you can not be merciful. The truth must be presented no matter how painful it may be. Fortunately, people who are writing obituaries do clear away the worst and highlights the best qualities in a person. In my case I would write an obituary of arthur taubo, myself.

The difference between my obituary writing and the ”common” form, was that I now had the opportunity to write about what arthur had done for other people, and what he had accomplished during his life. And as you see, it is to start with the endgoal in mind. To end up with a great finale, one that I could be satisfied with, I had to go through many things in my life. I got in touch with my inner feelings and longings. I got to meet all the dregs, injustice and selfish thoughts. My obituary is now resting on the desktop of my computer. I am happy with it. From time to time I take a look at it to see if I can still stand by what I wrote. I actually do that even if it was written more than seven years ago. My obituary has become a wizard who holds me responsible for my actions. Because I have written it, I can not do all the things that attracts me here or there. I’m actually going to have to take long detours to do things. Things are sometimes much slower this way. Many times it would have been nice to take a shortcut, but then I know I will not end up with the obituary I’ve written, the one that I really want that should be written. As a normal person, I’m not always 100% faithful to it, but I know where I want to go and that is very satisfying. I believe that others will be happy that I actually wrote it.

Finally.Find aquiet place, a place where you can be alone. Decide to write your own obituary. It will give you great insight in who you are and wish to be. It will give you clarity about what to do and what changes you have to do in your life to really get to where your heart wants to be. Remember, no matter what your past has been - your future is clean and bright. You can now decide what the content should be. Write your own obituary, and live life the way it was intended that it should be for you. I am convinced that you will thank yourself for it once you’ve done it. Do it today, do it now.

Dr. Brené Brown is a researcher professor at the University of Houston. In this video you’ll probably understand that you are enough, and allow yourself being you: Full of compassion and a wholehearted vulnerable human being. We do not need to be superhumans – perfect in every way. Our society would turn out in a much better way if we do not “gloss over” who we actually are. “I am enough”, and so are you my friend!

I have won in the lottery a few times in my life, not a lot but enough to have a smile on my face. Yes, it might feel great to win the lottery. Money, houses, travel – these are wonderful, but not enough by themselves. You need the right frame of mind to fully enjoy life. You need the attitude of gratitude.

Life is better when you feel blessed, when you can look around and say “Thank you, God.” Religious or not, when you see life as a wonderful gift, your experience is a richer one than any amount of money can provide. Imagine going through life like you’re a child, and every morning is Christmas. It’s tempting to think gratitude comes from having what you want. You see yourself giving thanks if you had money, a loving family, and maybe a house on the beach. Still, you know there are ungrateful, unhappy people with these things, and poor people full of gratitude for what little they have. Where does this feeling come from?

To be greatful has nothing to do with money. It has something to do with the way we think and appreciate what we have. In my opinion – being grateful for what I have has been the key to my success.

Gratitude arises from how you look at things. It is the natural feeling that comes from truly appreciating the people and things in your life. It is also something you can learn. First, you have to stop and smell the roses. You can’t be thankful for something you don’t notice or enjoy. Roses really do smell great, by the way. Then, you need to make this appreciative approach to roses and life a habit. There’s no need to ignore the ugliness in the world, but you have to habitually see the beautiful things. Start writing down every positive thing that happens to you, and all the things you like. Do this until you start automatically seeing the good things in life. If you’ve ever bought a white car, and started seeing white cars all over, you know how awareness can alter your perception of reality. To see wonderful things all over, train yourself to look for them. When you are in the habit of “counting your blessings,” gratitude, and a much richer experience of life is the natural result.

I might sound a bit negative if I say: You should find the real problem! Or put in other words: What do you love? What makes your heart go booom? My life is my responsibility. Your life is your responsibility. The clock is ticking… was that all it was?

As you probably know, I’m not a great fan of the school system. The reason: You learn to spend most of your time on things that you were not created for. After you have gotten your education – alot of people spend the rest of their adult life in a JOB they hate, complaining about wages. Find your voice – the one withing. Step out of your comfort zone, and grow into that person you were created to be.

“Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go.”
Mother Teresa (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997)

Mother Teresa made a strong impact on me when I was a young boy. I do remember that there were alot of jokes flying around at the time she received The Nobel Peace Price in 1979. I guess, because people really did not know what she was up too. For over 45 years she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, while guiding the Missionaries of Charity’s expansion, first throughout India and then in other countries. In this blog post I have written down a few of he her qutoes. When you read them, I guess you and I have to stop, think and readjust. What a great inspiration she was, and still is. Please read more about her at wikipedia.

“Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty.”
Mother Teresa

“Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.”
Mother Teresa

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
Mother Teresa

“Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.”
Mother Teresa

“One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody.”
Mother Teresa
